Just for fun :)

hey guys this time I will make a post just because i want to tell you a few things... nothing really big happened but I love America so much! :) So hey let's start with the things I've done today! Although this Saturday wasn't that exciting than the last Saturday, i really enjoyed it but I don't want to make you more curious (??) let's start straight away.

  • First thing this day was getting up from bed. yeah it doesn't sound very difficult or exciting but it WAS difficult cause the cat lay on my chest, an I simply was too lazy to push her away, so I had to wait until he decided to go away from himself, that means it took me about 20 minutes to get out of my bed. When i finally managed to get out of it, I cultivated my hair and my face a bit, then I went to breakfast. I had some apple-cinnamon tea and then Reese's cereals (that are just crunchy little balls with peanut butter and ?? flavor, they're so good) and watched TV. I have to say Spongebob is a bit different from the german Spongebob, he has a completely other voice and the squirrel is named "Mandy"? as long as I could follow that. :)
  • the next thing I did is going to my computer, because nothing was really going on this morning. I checked my facebook ( I had a few messages as usual, but I always answer them in the evening, so I just read through them) and then I looked if somebody is online at skype. And yeah my family was! So I tried to call them and meanwhile i got a package from them!! It was sent 2 weeks before and now I got it, with my calculator a pair of shoes, a dress, CHOCOLATE and some other little things. it  was hard work to get that thing open, meanwhile I was able to get my  family conected, but it wasn't a very good connection, because they could see and hear ma but i didn't hear or see anything so I talked to a black screen that was a bit strange. And I tried to speak german with them, failed pretty badly I'm just so used to speaking English that I fell really stupid when I talk German. So I gave up speaking it after a while. And after some time they managed to get their camera and microphone on so that finally we could skype (although their audio quality was very bad sometimes). So i introduced them to my hostfamily, showed them the house and the outside.
  • So after about an hour i ended the call because everybody waited for me to eating. when I came into the living room my hostmum gave me a letter she got my mail WITH THE INFORMATION THAT ITS TIME TO PLAN MY FLIGHT HOME!!!  I was like "what the... I've only spent 3 weeks here so far! why are they talking about LEAVING!?"
  • So after that little shock, we left for eating and we went to that mexican restaurant/grill. I took chicken quesedillas  and it was really much :O but I ate everything and we went to a shoe store and another store for clothing. Ah the shoes store was awesome IT WAS So CHEAP!! But my first problem was that i looked at the shoes for the size and it says 6. ha yeah I have 40 and that shoe doesn't look THAT small! so I found out that they have another system of shoe-sizes here,  but I was lucky because the european  sizes were written on all the shoe-packages. And so I found a pair of converse I would like to buy, ad guess the price---> ok I tell you you would NEVER guess it. I got them for 20$ that are approx. 16€!! When you want to buy converse for 16€ in Austria you have to go to.... I don't know where you have to go to :D it's just impossible, they're cheap when you have to buy them for 30€!
  • The rest of the day I just hung around in the house, writing messages, watching TV playing Legos :) and now in the evening we ordered a Pizza and they delivered it directly to our door, like in the movies, that  was really cool :D
Now I'm full and tired and happy that I don't have to leave the house anymore and that tomorrow is Sunday and that Monday is a school-free day :)

Oki I'm done and this time the blog wasn't THAT long (I guess)! Have a good night or day, whatever...
See ya! (or not, whatever xD)

OMAHA!!

This is the next post! This time there will be pictures or at least one picture i don't know yet. But you can be excited there will be pictures! Good and I'm writing bout my trip to Omaha. I went there at Friday right after school, and we stayed one night in a hotel there and came back on Saturday, evening.

I now try to remember everything, let's start at the beginning: Friday after school my hostmum picked me up like every day, then we went home, so that I could pack my things I've prepared the evening before, change my clothes, and get ready. 20 minutes later we were leaving, i was really excited because Omaha is the biggest city of Nebraska with a little bit more than 400 000 inhabitants. And i was looking forward to it because I really wanted to see a big american city, although 400 000  doesn't sound really big (vienna has 1.6 million ),but I should be  wrong, but more later :)
good so we went to Omaha and we had to drive about 2 and a half hours. I didn't think that it was that much time i was too busy looking out of the window, because everything around me was too fascinating: the cool american trucks on the street, the landscape, which changed during our trip (the land wasn't that flat anymore) and even the street signs! When we came pas a big city after 2 hours i thought "Wow we arrived!" but it was Lincoln, the capital of Nebraska. From the Highway you could see so many stores and stuff it was amazing!
But we drove past this city and then i realized that we've been in Lincoln, so we continued driving. And then finally, we arrived in Omaha, it was already dark but this made everything look so awesome! And everything seemed so big! I saw University, the house of a rich man, whose name I don' remember 'cause I don't know him, other big buildings, an american cinema (it really looked like the cinemas in the movie) and  many sculptures from horses and buffalos (I found out that some of them live in the area where i stay, wuhu that's awesome) and of that white  wagons, you know what you know from the western movies, pulled by cows AND i saw a shop called "Tannenbaum" , which was funny because I never expected a german word in this city. ANd the city WAS big, I couldn't believe that there don't live as much people as in Vienna!
The first stop in Omaha wasn't our hotel as I expected it, it was a restaurant called "the cheesecake factory". A really cool name but it was suitable, because there they sell about 30 different kinds of Cheesecake, with every flavor you can imagine (and more)really! But it was very crowded in there, so after we ordered a  table we got that thing, which rang when we have a table and so we had to wait. And we waited in front of the place where they sell the cakes, it was a torture :P But finally we got a table, we sat down ordered the beverages and the food (i took a coke and a pizza in a small size but that was big enough i don't want to know how big the BIG one is) and the food was delicious. After the food we ordered an Oreo-cheesecake. So great there are so many things you can get with oreo that's great. The cake was delicious! but a bit too much whipped cream, in my opinion.
Then we got into our hotel and it was amazing! very modern and beautiful and green and pretty. Yeah the rest of the evening I stayed in the hotel-room watching a show about weddings and dresses for the bride, playing a stupid game on the iPad which made me addicted to it ;) and going on facebook.
The next morning, i woke up at 10 o'clock, made myself ready for the day and then we were leaving the hotel next stop: ?? No i didn't know at this moment so we just drove around and I saw lots of things and then we stopped at this bakery and i expected i go in and i smell  that amazing scent of  fresh bread, but nothing. I was a bit disappointed that it was that different, they had no "Semmel" and that crunchy brown bread I know from Austria. But they have all kinds if bread with cinnamon, I tasted it and it was very good! So we  bought a package of that bread and then we left, and went TO THE MALL!
uuh that was amazing, cool shops wherever i looked and the prices where so cheap, it couldn't hardly believe my eyes :O but it was true and so we went into a few shops, I was absolutely speechless in every of them, and of course I bought stuff though ;) After a small break at the restaurant I went to the Hollister stoe and it was AWESOME! i love this store really! it was wintersale so all that stuff was especially cheap and there I bought the most, it took me some time, to choose the stuff i want to buy, so everyone waited for me :) Nevermind ;) After this we left the mall, i was pretty happy about this because otherwise I wouldn't have been  be able to carry all the stuff that I bought.
the next stop after the mall was that shop called "Red mango" . I've never heard of this  before, they sell frozen yogurt there, my hostmum explained to me and i thought "hey that sounds good!!!"
But I didn't think that it would be THAT good! in the store you could choose from about 14 different flavors of frozen yogurt, it was SO GOOD, and then when you chose which flavor you want to have you could choose the topping like fruits, cereals, sweets,... aaahh that was soo good hopefully we get there more often, I absolutely loved it.
After the red mango, we got home i was pretty happy about that it had been an exciting day!!

Byye now, and now i will attach a picture because i promised it :D
this is Omaha

Just America :P

Okidoki (ahaaa that's English, my maths teacher says that sometimes xD) here's another post about America and what life's like here. This episode: What experiences I made with the restaurants and other customize-stuff here.

Well, first of all I want to complete my previous post (you know that one about school on Friday): When I got home this day, i just got out of the car and my hostdad says that I will be alone at home for a while but my hostmum is coming soon- "Ok", I think " Quiet rooms for me and my homework, that's good" and I got in the house ate an apple and sat down to do my homework (of course I didn't only  do my homework i had to do some work on the inernet, so I ended up being on facebook and answering  my mails from curious people :P. But I DID MY HOMEWORK, or let's say a big part of it, and when i look out of the window it's dark outside. Looked at the clock already after 7o'clock and still no one except me at home. i start getting a bit worried but almost in this moment someone rang the doorbell- my hostbrother was here and not much later the other family members were here. The next thing we did is getting into the car and going to that restaurant/Bakery, with other family members. I looked at the menu and the first few moments i was simply overwhelmed with that variety of things to eat. In America you can't just get everything you want at the supermarket, you can also get everything you want at the restaurant! So i stared at the menu, completely fascinated what you can get here- from hamburger to pancakes- you can have almost everything in that restaurant. I finally took the omelett with ham and cheese. So i ordered t and thought that it would be everything to say  that I want that Cheese-Ham omelett. OMG how wrong I was. They asked me how I would like my potatoes to the Omelett (uff i didn't know that there are potatoes with the omelett, so I felt a bit overextendet, but i got it explained and so I made my choice and thought "Ok that was unexpected" but there were other questions!) What sort of bread to you want with your omelett? -Toast please. What sort of Toast? :) haha that  was funny but in the end i got my omelett pretty soon and it was delicious i ate EVERYTHING and I was the first one who was ready, which was remarkable because i normally eat very slowly. Yeah and then we got out- i was completely full and then we got that SUPER DELICIOUS American cookies when we left. They're so big but really, really good! My favourite sweet here so far.

hey you're nearly done i just wanted to tell you where i ate today and what was so special about THAT! Sooo today after church we got to that restaurant where you can see your lobster when he's alive and then you can eat it ( :O that's so disgusting i couldn't look at that poor animals :( ). But that doesn't matter we got in there and got seated after a while (hey that's another remarkable thing what is different from Austria because in Austria you usually reserve a table in a restaurant and then get there directly and you don't have that desks where you can read "Please wait here you will be seated soon" or something like that. Yeah we got a table in the corner, it was pretty comfy and i looked at the menu and i thought holy moly seafood. In the end I chose just a bowl of potato-bacon soup it was really good but so hot. But that's not the thing i wanted to share i wanted to say something about the beverages there! I had a coke and I just drank 1/2 of my glass, came the waiter and put another full glass of coke here! I thought "hey, I didn't order that!" but all the others got another  drink too, so it turned out that in this restaurant you have to buy for only 1 drink and then you get another whenever, the waiter thinks that you have too less to drink. When we left I got 3, 1/2 l glasses f coke (I can't remember that I ever drank so much coke for one meal before. But I mean that was soo awesome! When you're in Austria done with your drink you have to order another, they don't really see if you need something to drink and you always have to buy for the next drink, also when you always take the same, it doesn't matter.

O that's really the last paragraph now, and i try to make it as short as possible. It's generally just about how cheap everything here is, compare  with Europe. The clothes are so much cheaper, the shoes are so much cheaper EVERYTHING is so much cheaper! Here's a good example, which I found the last time i got to the mall : we were in this store for electronics and I looked for the iPods, just because I was curious how much they are here (and because i don't have aniPod yet, I KNOW that's a shame :D ) and when i saw the price i thought I'm dreaming, or that the price tag was kidding me BUT IT WASN'T; IT WAS ALL REAL!!  The iPod touch costed 199$ and it was NO sale or somethin that was the normal price. if you now think "what?that's still some money!" you have to consider 2 things: 1) the same model costs in Austria about 250 €  2) when you say 199$ you have to consider that you still have to convert this into € and that's what I did and I calculated that it would cost less than 150 €!! :O that's super awesome..

Good that's it for today! Sleep well (or have a nice monday, depends on where you live ;) )
byebye!

Amazing!

So today i wanna tell you something about all the awesome things i do every day, because i think that this day was extra-amzing, don't ask me why it was just..... amazing xD
Good let's start in the morning: I'm getting up at 7o'clock in the morning, which means that I get half an hour more sleep than in Austria biiig advantage!! :D next step is to make breakfast prepare myself for school, put my school uniform on (maybe i can upload a photo of it later that you see what it's like, let's say the uniform isn't that bad.) making myself a sandwich and put my lunch into my pocket and then I get to school, by car. School starts for me at 8:12 am ( very strange times in my opinion) and then I go to my class. First period GEOMETRY. We just started with a new chapter, and since then i can follow them and it isn't that  difficult I think that that stuff that we just make in Geometry, we had learned 3 years ago ;) Having a short quiz about ratios (which was very easy I only had a little problem because i forgot my pencil case in my locker, but the girl  behind me borrowed me a pencil thank god)  doing some examples, getting homework- Geometry DONE! Standing up from that SUPER  small desk they have here in American schools (I really prefer the austrian desks, you have much more space there) and rushing downstairs to my locker (which is a bit strange in the last 2 days because the thing is that it's called LOCKER but I can't lock anything there. I can do what I want the locker is always like I got the right combination of numbers which isn't. Who cares.
Good then getting all my stuff for the next lesson- English. There we always write a journal in the first few minutes of the lesson I don't really know what we're supposed to write there some sayit doesn't matter, some say we always get a theme to write about. Every Friday is High Five Friday in our English  class that means that everybody gets a high five from our teacher and usually from your neighbors too. But today- because it's Friday the 13th- we did the double-high-five. then singing a "happy birthday to a boy in my class whose birthday was today, he's very nice.  Reading some poems, analyzing them, don't get homework for the weekend- ENGLISH DONE! Leaving the classroom going to my locker again,  getting the things for gym class. getting to the locker room for the girls changing my clothes, going to the gym. On Friday the teacher always says "and you all now run 7 laps!" but the girls say that when she says 7 laps she means 3 laps which is a bit strange but ok, so we just run 3 laps and then we have to get something to do. I usually walk laps with a few other girls but today I joined those, who are playing basketball, which means that we're trying to get the ball into the basket. it turned  out that I'm very bad at this, behind my back the boys also do this and they stand very far away from the basket throw the ball and it goes into the basket, almost in all cases. THta's amazing. After about half an hour, throwing balls gets boring so we join the group which does "stretching", which means we  sit on the floor and talk. Good and then we have to go to change again and that was our P.E. lesson which is REALLY different from the Austrian way of doing it :)
Good going to my locker again and getting the stuff for American Government. We had to make a bookcover but I just got one of those super cue t-shirts for the books i didn't know this before but it's kinda handy. it's pink, but i like this color. Good so getting into the classroom, giving my assignment from the last lesson to the teacher. sitting down watchin the other students around me eating, and think " OHH no I forgot to  bring a snack on Friday for the test on Wednesday. Nevermind." Friday is always very cool day in A.G. because where playing a quiz game that means, the teacher asks question and the team with the most points wins. I don't know most of the questions but although I'm not a very good help my team won. But I got ONE question right, the question was like "which biggest animal living on the land, had got a very bad year 2011 or something like that" I said elephants. but I thin I had to pronounciate it elephantES because the teacher corrected me and the girl left from me said awesome.... ;) Good then again getting to my locker, getting my lunch, going to the cafeteriasitting down to the table where me and the other girls always sit and eating my lunch. I usually get some treats from the other students which buy food here in school but I'm not very interested in doing that it seems to me that the menu is always almost the same french fries + something (cheeseburger, tacos, ...) yeah sitting down meeting the exchange girl from Germany, she's very nice I like talking to her she gives me lots of advice. Watching the people around me doing weird things (OMG I can tell you I love american people they're so nice and funny ), hearing the teacher say something, then everybody gets up and gets out of the room and so do I. talking to the german girl while I get to my locker, getting my things out for study hall ( a free period where I usually study or do my homework  or just talk to the others). Walking into the American government room to write myself onto the list of the students in the library. Then going to the library doing my Geopraphy homework learning a bit chemistry for the test on the 7th period. Didn't finish my homework, couldn't  concentrate. Talking to the others sitting on the table. BELL RINGS
Going to my locker again, getting my stuff for spanish, waiting for the others to be ready going upstairs to the spanish room. Getting into it, doing the practice standing on the board. Here they don't use the green board with chalk  and that stuff NO they have that white ones with the eddings to write on which is far more useful in my opinion because you can writ on it when you use the beamer for a powerpoint, presentation for example. Wasn't able to finish the practice because I din't know what's good looking in spanish. Don't mind  waiting for the comparison of the others, and so do I. Getting some sheets, doing some exercise being super smart with saying something with raising my hand (the american students don't do that very often I notice) getting some sheets for homework, nearly tripping my stupid desk over, leaving the room and being nervous for the chemistry test. getting to my locker thinking "OMG I don't have a calculator" Getting my chemistry things getting into class, noticing that our regular chemistry teacher is absent, asking the other tacher for a calculator, get one, beeing happy. Seing the test thinking "Holy moly what's that?" remembering that I wasn't here in the first semester skipping this mumber doing the rest which wasn't that bad. Thinking about the 1st semster numbers, noticing that there's something to callculate in this number and that I'm able to do this, getting panic Quickly calculating everything FINISHED! phew it wasn't that bad. Leaving the classsroom when the kids from the next period alread came in, getting to my locker, getting my things fro religion, sitting down and just relax a bit. Yes chemistry test done! SO religion is ok relaxing the teacher is very nice. Getting abck my parapraph about a person we know which suffered but didn't crush n this. Got 10/10  points, was happy because I didn't take the test so I should show the teacher on other ways that I would deserve a good grade. Just writing a little bit about the greek people and their influence of the jews and then watching a very cute video from a boy which knows that speech from the olympic games by heart. Not very long but cute. Then throwing that football around in class, everybody is telling was he/she is doing  at the weekend. Nearly everybody is going to winterball I am not because I don't have a dress yet and I don't want to be so stressed tomorrow. Just want to sleep long and have a relaxing day. Good then going to my locker the last time for this wek getting all my things out, walking  out of school looking for the car which picks me up. Nothing. Getting a bit worried but talk to some girls from school, changing phone numbers and finally, picks me someone up. Being happy cause it's freezing ouside. Sharing the cookie with my hostbrother, nad trying to text that girl who gave me her number minutes ago.. haha funny error, the number doesn't exist how funny...
Good at this point I will stop nnow I'm tired and this post is already too long so I will stop. Maybe I will write the rest of my day tomorrow, when I have time and if not see you in the next post!
P.S.: When you read all this you can be proud of yourself. It's super long + with a lot of mistakes in it ;)

Finally arrived!!!

Sooooo late but still.... I arrived here in Nebraska already a few days before but I didn't have time to write a new post, i'm sorry that I disappointed you. Threre had been a few problems with my computer, because he has run out of energy and I wanted to load it but they have other electrical outlets here you know and my adapter I bought in Austria didn't fit with my laptop and Oh well I'm just happy that I got this problem solved :)

So to get back to the plot I will now tell you how it's like in the USA, how my flight was and what I experienced so far. So let's start!

  • Good let's start at the beginning: the enormous complicated and long flight schedule. I got up at 4 o'clock in the morning in Munich because I checked in there a day before and then slept in a hotel so I didn't had to get up at 2 o'clock in the morning to drive to the airport. Then we met the lady from EF at the airport and she told me everything I had to know about my flight and about the immigration process in Chicago. She also told me that I had to  check in again in Chicago because it wasn't possible to check through to Grand Island right there in Munich and I was like "OMG, that's not true!! I'm not able to do this alone!" But I couldn't help myself i had to leave and so i got into the plane and then I got to brussels. I quickly found my gate there and then I had to wait.. about an hour. and suddenly a girl speaks to me and I found out that there are a few other EF students going to Chicago at this gat and that a few of them also had to check in again in Brussels! I was really happy then and after that really annoying and long flight of over 8 hours to Chicago I got through the immmigration process and the check in and got to my gat in no time. The rest of my trip  was pretty easy and i was really happy as I finally  arrived at the Grand Island airport after a trip of over 24 hours, but the strange thing was i wasn't really tired at all. So afterwards I can say I got no Jetlag (not really)
  • Good next point: the question to which i had to answer about 100 times now :P HOW'S AMERICA!? I simply have to say AWESOME! Everybody is so friendly and when you get into a shop o whatever everybody says "Hello, how are you doing?" ah I can say i absolutely love it. And it seems to me that everybody here has an IPhone ;) and the stores here are so big really... I'm speechless everytime I get in one. You can really DO,BUY and HAVE EVERYTHING here that's amazing. I just like it
  • Good and finally how do I like it here? I really like it! I already did so many awesome things which may be just normal for my hostfamily but I think it's just amazing. And two days ago i had my first day at school and I really liked it too, the students and teacher are so nice and the lessons are really fun and the teacher are not so serious here than in Austria that's the thing I like most.
Yeah i think that's the end of that MONSTER-post mand when you read it until here you are very brave :D or interested in America you can choose ;)

Good when something awesome happens ther will be another post, in other words: There will be another post SOOn, because everything here is just awesome ;)
Byebye!
